Rick is available as a Judge

Rick McAllisterAbout Rick

Rick took up photography in 1970 when he returned home from Vietnam. “I had a corporate job in New York City and during my lunch breaks, I would walk down 6th Avenue to the KODAK Building and stroll through their galleries. I got hooked, bought my first Canon camera, and the rest as they say, is history.” After 18 years in the corporate world, including a year in the U.S. House of Representatives on a Congressional Assistant Program, Rick followed up with residency in Colorado Springs, in Islamorada (Florida Keys), and here in St. Augustine where he has lived for the past 15 years.

His photographic interests have lead him to the following:

  • Commercial graphic design and photography for magazine and newspaper media
  • Portfolio photography (outdoor and studio)
  • Resident photographer for golf events at the World Golf Village, St. Augustine, FL
  • Founder of an International Golf Photography Contest
  • Judge for local photography contests and organizations. Holds an FCCC Judging Certificate.
  • Underwater photography instructor (P.A.D.I.)
  • Contributing writer and photographer for Old City Life magazine
  • Member of the St. Augustine Camera Club (an FCCC affiliated club)

Rick is currently represented by the Georgia Nick Gallery on Aviles Street, and is the exclusive featured photographer for Mr. Davids (Strategic Sourcing Group), St. Augustine, FL.

With a lifelong fascination with Ernest Hemingway, Ansel Adams, and Clyde Butcher, it was an easy transition to photojournalism and documentary photography, and to the creation of his highly acclaimed Olde South Series. This black & white series has been seen in exhibits throughout the South and is a part of private and corporate collections throughout the United States.

In addition to photography, Rick enjoys scuba diving, standup paddle boarding, riding his Harley, adventure travel, and spending time with his daughter, Lauren, and her family.

“I try not to focus too much on tomorrow because today usually has some great possibilities left.”
